Electromagnetic starters are suitable for use in environments with methane, coal dust, and other mixed gases in coal mines and their surrounding media. They are used in power supply systems with AC 50Hz, voltage below 1140V, and rated current up to 400A. Used for directly or remotely controlling the start and stop of three-phase squirrel cage asynchronous motors used in mining, and can reverse direction when the controlled motor stops. It is suitable for infrequent operation and heavy load coal mining machinery equipment. The starter has functions of voltage loss, undervoltage, overload, short circuit, phase failure, overcurrent, and leakage lockout protection.

　　Electromagnetic starter, also known as magnetic starter, is a direct starter. Electromagnetic starters are generally composed of AC contactors, thermal relays, etc. They can be remotely operated to start and stop small and medium-sized cage type three-phase asynchronous motors. Electromagnetic starters do not have short-circuit protection function, so fuses or low-voltage circuit breakers need to be installed in the main circuit during use. Electromagnetic starters are divided into reversible and irreversible types. The reversible electromagnetic starter has two AC contactors with different wiring methods to control the forward and reverse rotation of the motor respectively. The irreversible electromagnetic starter only has one AC contactor, which can only control the motor to rotate in one direction.
